Popcorn Balls

INGREDIENTS:
1 1/3 c. light corn syrup
2/3 c. water
2 c. sugar
1 t. salt
1/4 c. butter (1/2 stick)
5 qts. popped corn
DIRECTIONS:
Combine syrup, water, sugar, salt in heavy saucepan; cook and stir over low heat till sugar dissolved. Cook uncovered, over moderate heat until hard ball or 255 degrees F. Remove from heat; add butter; pour hot syrup slowly over popcorn. Butter hands and shape into balls.
Molasses Popcorn Balls

INGREDIENTS:
1 3/4 light molasses
2 c. sugar
2/3 cup water
2 t. vinegar
1/2 t. soda
3 1/2 qts or more popcorn
DIRECTIONS:
Combine molasses, sugar, water, and vinegar. Cook to hard ball stage. Remove from heat. Ad soda and stir. Pour over corn, mix well. Shape into balls.
